'So, You Want to Run for Municipal Council?' 2026 Information Sessions Scheduled
Are you considering running for Municipal Council?
Information sessions are being held throughout Leeds and Grenville for individuals interested in learning more about the role of a municipal councillor. There will be an opportunity to hear from municipal professionals, ask questions, and network with other potential candidates.
The sessions are open to everyone. The various dates, times, and locations are noted below.

2026 Municipal Election Information Report to Council
The Clerk brought forward an information report to the January 26th Regular Council Meeting regarding the 2026 Municipal Election.
The report can be accessed on the Village's website. It includes key timelines, dates, and information pertaining to the 2026 Municipal Election.
2026 Municipal Election
The 2026 Municipal Election will be held on Monday, October 26, 2026. The Village of Merrickville-Wolford voters will have the option to vote by either in-person paper ballot, internet, or telephone.
Eligible electors will have the opportunity to vote in their local council and school board representatives.

Council Positions Available in the 2026 Election
The Council of the Village of Merrickville-Wolford is composed of five (5) members:
- Mayor - 1 position
- Councillor - Merrickville Ward - 2 positions
- Councillor - Wolford Ward - 2 positions
All positions are for a four-year term, beginning on November 15, 2026, following the municipal election.
School Board Trustee positions will also be on the ballot. Details will be posted when confirmed.
